This zone now covers most of your main facial features which shows one way of how the length of the brows affect the balance of the other parts of your face. If you feel that your face is too long or far apart, try extending the line of your brows using an eyebrow pencil. And if you think that your features are too close together, try making your brows appear shorter by lining it lightly at the outer ends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The shape of the brow can also create a major impact on your face. Eyebrow shapes depend mainly on the original direction of the brows, the roundness of the eyes and the shape of your face. Thus proving how the eyebrows frame the entire face.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Again, using these measurements you can already enhance your face by tweaking your eyebrows. For oblong faces, lengthening your eyebrows at the outer ends can help to section the face and make it appear shorter. Since the eyebrows are a 'less-fixed' facial feature or something that's easier to change compared to the other facial features, we will consider it as the value that we need to find. You can also use your own measurement, starting from the center of the bottom lip going up to the middle of your forehead, right between the eyebrows. Hourglass bodies have voluptuous upper and lower body proportions while banana body-shapes have more of a slim, model-type body. As long as the torso and hips appear balanced, you're considered to have an ideal body.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;img border="0" height="305" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/TRN3Az46MEI/AAAAAAAAAk8/9FiqCwHWYrU/s400/bodyshapes_ideal_b2.png" width="400" /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The two remaining shapes, however, have disproportional upper and lower bodies. For apple-shaped women, their torso is significantly wider than their hips while pear-shaped women have very small torsos in comparison to their lower body. This is common among many women, but unfortunately for some the difference is very noticeable. The photo on the left was how Angelina looked like in her 20's while the one on the right is how she looks in her 30's. There's very little difference in the dresses that she wore - they're both column dresses, made of metallic fabric and tied at the waist. The difference is that the second dress has a low neckline, which lessened the bulk at the chest, and it also has a more defined billow from the tucked-out waist. Although, the first dress is not too bad. Again, there's very little difference between the two dresses - both are black, and they both have minimal coverage on top but the second dress defined her body more beautifully. As you can see at the left photo, her torso are almost the same width as her hips. At the next photo, the corseted waist of her dress helped make her hips look wider. Her torso seems narrower, too, thanks to her halter-neck dress style.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are just some of the ways of strategically dressing for your body type. With just little tweaks, you can already make a very big difference in the way you look. I'm sure some of you already know these tricks. Being an apple-shaped girl myself, I keep looking for ways to dress that would help me look more proportional and I'm just sharing some tips that I hope will help those who are having the same problem.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I just have to point out that, I do NOT encourage women to go through surgery or extreme dieting just for the sake of having an ideal body. The truth is, our bodies change all throughout our lives. Even if you have the body that you want right now, there's no telling what kind of transformation you'll have in the future.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Body make-overs naturally happen all the time due to hormonal changes, a new diet or exercise, and a myriad of other reasons. That said, you don't have to wait for any of that to happen just so you can sport a new look. Using fashion strategically can go a long way plus it's fun and pain-free, certainly less-painful than surgery.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote style="-moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial; For this purpose, we're going to use the golden triangle which is derived from the golden ratio.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SqdEmc7hlbI/AAAAAAAAAM4/GPSDzz5hxjY/s1600-h/eyebrow.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 201px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SqdEmc7hlbI/AAAAAAAAAM4/GPSDzz5hxjY/s400/eyebrow.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379343707308922290" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To create the triangle guideline for your eyebrow, you'll need to determine the length of your eyebrow and where to properly place the arc. In the picture above, you can see on the right a golden rectangle, the longer side being 1.68 times longer than the shorter side. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Realistically, this doesn't have to be the exact measures since these are just guidelines but as much as possible the length of the nose should be longer than the eyebrows by about 50% to 60%. From the first picture we are able to create a triangle found on the right picture. This will be our basis for shaping the eyebrows.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SqdEml0LY6I/AAAAAAAAANA/jAvreInTkso/s1600-h/browtriangle.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 231px; height: 234px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SqdEml0LY6I/AAAAAAAAANA/jAvreInTkso/s400/browtriangle.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379343709694026658" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On the picture above, the larger triangle is showing the right length of the eyebrow while the smaller triangle shows the placement of the eyebrow's arc. If your eyebrows, eyes and nose are not as aligned as this model's features, just try to find a middle ground among the three. It would help if you follow the golden ratio 1:1.618 rule where your eyebrow is the 1 unit and the length of your nose is approximately 1.618 times longer than the brow.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For the smaller triangle, the reference point for the nose is where it starts to arc for the nostril. The length of this point to the eyebrow should be your 1.618 unit and from there you can find the right placement for the eyebrow's arc. Again, this isn't an exact science and it's best just to follow your natural shape. The fullest part of the eye (green segment) should be around one-half more than it's distance from the brow (yellow segment). These facial features instinctively register as beautiful proportions to our brain even without us directly measuring it. Thus, a beautiful face is most of the time appreciated regardless of nationality, color, gender and other factors. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Using the golden ratio, which I've discussed previously in &lt;a href="http://beautifulproportion.blogspot.com/2009/08/beautiful-proportions-golden-ratio-also.html"&gt;earlier posts&lt;/a&gt;, we can find some ways to achieve beautiful proportions in the face - without taking drastic measures such as cosmetic surgery just for the sake of beauty.&lt;br /&gt;This next picture will hopefully give you a graphic representation of some tips for creating good facial proportion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img alt="face_beautiful proportion_beauty_josie maran" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371882000748131154" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SozCN93oM1I/AAAAAAAAAG8/JR1K48oI7NI/s400/face2.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 199px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The eyebrows (&lt;span style="color: #a02a64;"&gt; Pink Rectangle &lt;/span&gt;) can make a huge impact on your look without breaking the bank. &lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  The ends of the brow arc land on the same line for both&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  The end of the brows are aligned with the cheekbone&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  and the length of the brows should be 1.618 greater than the distance between them&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lips : ( &lt;span style="color: #452a55;"&gt;Blue&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1e;"&gt;-Red-&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: #452a55;"&gt;Blue&lt;/span&gt; Segments ) &lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  around 1.618 wider than the distance between the lip corners to the side of the face&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Nose : (&lt;span style="color: #3b3656;"&gt; Blue Rectangle &lt;/span&gt;)&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  distance from the left corner lip to the left nostril should be around half the width of nose. &lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  The same goes for the corner right lip and the right nostril.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  Notice also how the inner eyebrows by extension are aligned to the nostrils. This could also be used as another guideline for shaping the eyebrows.&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;More points like these can be seen in my post about &lt;a href="http://beautifulproportion.blogspot.com/search/label/Face"&gt;face proportions&lt;/a&gt;, but I consider these three points to be the most significant to achieve a well- proportioned face.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Understandably, not all of us have as good proportions as this model's face does. Fortunately, there are simple ways to make up for that. As they say, it's not all about what you've got but in how you use it. Even models don't start out as beautiful as they come out in photoshoots. But with makeup, or even a little facial muscle training, our face can be sculpted into its fullest 'pretty' potential.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  If your lips are not wide enough for your nose, the best solution would be to go natural on your lip color. Nude or light lip colors such as light pinks or peaches or any shade that comes close to your natural skin tone can blur the outlines of your lips. This will allow people to adjust their perception and see a beautiful proportion of your lips and nose. &lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;Smiling is a very good strategy as well. You may have noticed how most models and celebrities have a way of smiling when they're faced with cameras. It takes a little effort and concentration to pull this off. Bu, in the long run, you'll have trained your facial muscles and your 'best smile' will come more naturally to you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  If you have thin lips and want it to appear fuller, you might want to use a glossy finish. You can strategically place the gloss on areas that you want to plump up like at the center of the lower lip. If you want, you could try out some lip-plumping formulas and find which one works best for you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt;  For those with full lips, a matte finish would be best to avoid sheen which has a tendency of making a certain area appear fuller. Try channeling Angelina Jolie, with her half-open smiles that separate the upper and lower lips to create slimmer segments as opposed to closed smiles which make lips appear fuller.&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The main area you should concentrate on to improve facial proportion is your &lt;a href="http://beautifulproportion.blogspot.com/2009/09/beautiful-proportion-for-eyebrows.html" target="_blank"&gt;eyebrow&lt;/a&gt;. It's also the easiest part to change  although some might not quite have successful results. But that's no reason to feel bad. You can fill in sparse areas of your desired brow shape using an eyebrow pencil which is a few shades lighter than your eyebrow color. Do this sparingly using short, light strokes and use eye shadow for your finishing touch.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt; Next, the distance between the fullest part of the eye to the brow should be close to the 1:1.618 ratio, with the eye as the wider portion. This can be achieved by plucking more at the ends of the brows where there are more unruliness while doing only minor clean-up in the middle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://beautifulproportion.blogspot.com/2009/09/beautiful-proportion-for-eyebrows.html" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;img alt="face_beautiful proportion" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371900976116842690" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SozTeeoEwMI/AAAAAAAAAHk/x-Y8z3G3GRE/s400/eyeslarge.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 109px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 328px;" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt; Do not overpluck as this will compromise the thickness of the brows in comparison to your eyes. My rule for this is that the bigger your eye-shape is, the thicker your brows should be.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #ae1e1d;"&gt;Φ&lt;/span&gt; If you're wearing eye makeup, make sure by the end of the application you've still maintained the same proportions you had before. Don't let your eyes look to close or too far from each other as this will ruin a beautifully proportioned face. Some important points of the body that we'll be using are the crown, neck or base of the throat, upper body, navel, and limbs. Given these references, we're going to start looking for body measures that would give us that beautiful proportion which instinctively registers to our brains even without the use of measuring kits.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img alt="woman_body_beautiful proportion_ana claudia" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371891530226430514" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SozK4p8TcjI/AAAAAAAAAHc/Q89GqDdGq8Q/s400/goldenbody.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 349px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Several occurences of the golden section or 1:1.618 measurements are found throughout her form.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From the crown to the tips of her hand as smaller segment (1) and from crown to sole as phi (1.618). When inverted starting from the sole, the same measure still gives us a golden ratio of the 'Sole to waist : Sole to crown'.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are plenty of other measurements as you can see. You can check out this post about the &lt;a href="http://beautifulproportion.blogspot.com/2009/08/beautiful-proportions-golden-ratio-also.html#Vitruvius"&gt;beautiful proportion of the human body&lt;/a&gt; for a more detailed illustration.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another way to measure a beautiful proportion is with the use of the golden rectangle. This rectangle is also derived from the golden section and is commonly used in architecture but it can also be applied to other objects. I have a post using the golden rectangle to find the &lt;a href="http://beautifulproportion.blogspot.com/2009/08/beautiful-proportions-of-face.html"&gt; beautiful proportion of the face&lt;/a&gt;. But for now, we're going to apply it in finding beautiful measures in the female body.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the picture below, you can see 4 golden rectangles. Although, there are certainly more occurences of these rectangles, I'll just keep it down to 4 to avoid clutter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img alt="ana claudia_beautiful proportion_woman_body" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371889256958532370" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SozI0VXAGxI/AAAAAAAAAHU/OuZ7Gj720w0/s400/goldenbodyrectangle2.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 270px;" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The &lt;span style="color: #a6365a;"&gt;pink rectangle&lt;/span&gt; measures the distance of her shoulder to the width of her neck. The distance is symmetrical to her other shoulder thus giving us two rectangles intersecting to form a golden rectangle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The &lt;span style="color: #4c7f23;"&gt;green rectangle&lt;/span&gt; is rotated to measure the distance between her chin to her lower chest versus the distance between her navel to her upper chest. This also creates a golden rectangle with the middle rectangle showing the perfect placement for the breasts. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The &lt;span style="color: #4378c1;"&gt;blue rectangle&lt;/span&gt; is a different rectangle pattern but still a golden rectangle only this time the wider part is at the middle. The lines within the rectangle might suggest the best center for a beautiful proportioned breast. It starts at the shoulders ending on the far end of the neck and inversely, starting from the other shoulder.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The &lt;span style="color: #ab3527;"&gt;red rectangle&lt;/span&gt; measures the hips to the mid-thigh or pelvic bone. Most people will already consider her to be beautiful just by looking even in this black-and-white photograph. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some people will attribute the beauty of a face with symmetry, and they're right. But along with symmetry, you must first have a beautiful proportion to begin with. Because without this, wouldn't you be just doubling your flaws?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The proportion I'm referring to is the golden ratio which is prominent in the works of Leonardo da Vinci who is an artist, architect and inventor among other things. It was said that da Vinci relied on this golden ratio to attain the beautiful proportions that are consistently found in his artworks such as the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371292635582437970" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SoqqMZiQGlI/AAAAAAAAAFg/7f7xZSxFauU/s400/phisection.png" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 64px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The golden ratio pertains to a golden section which is simply a line segment but with a distinct measure of 1:1.618. From this same ratio, the golden rectangle is derived. The golden rectangle is often used in architecture and other computational sciences but its applications are not limited there.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In this next picture, we can see some golden sections along Josie Maran's face. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img alt="golden_ratio_face" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5370969031815167538" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BWOAaRhccT0/SomD4Lj3fjI/AAAAAAAAAEY/H4IFi9EhYN0/s400/goldenface_beautiful%20proportion.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 381px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are only some of the sections, but as you can see there are plenty of 1:1.618 proportions in her face :&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;~ The distance between the end of one brow to the beginning of the other. Inversely, you're going to get the same measure. Thus, &lt;a href="http://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=5709479214719160513&amp;amp;postID=3499833118099010900"&gt;symmetry&lt;/a&gt; is also present in her features. &lt;br /&gt;~ The same can be said about the distance between the end of one eye to the start of the other. &lt;br /&gt;~ Vertically, you can also see golden ratios on the distance between her hairline to her brow bone to her chin and &lt;br /&gt;~ The length of her nose to to her mouth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's these measures that give her a beautiful proportioned face.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another way to show her beautiful proportions is through the golden rectangle. A beautiful spirit that resonates to physical beauty comes from within and cannot be faked or fabricated. The most important thing is to take care of yourself - your mind, your body and spirit.
